The Chicago Agreement was created by engaged Chicago-area residents looking for a way to bring together residents and organizations in coordinated action to fight climate change. From October - December, 2017, a working group spanning diverse geographies and backgrounds drafted the Agreement. The draft was posted publicly and incorporates input from dozens of engaged residents.
The Chicago Agreement launched at the Chicago Community Climate Forum with a video presentation. The Agreement continues to provide common ground for regional climate collaboration.
To-date, more than 600 individuals and organizations have signed the Chicago Agreement.
In 2019, the Chicago Community Climate Partnership is working to expand the Agreement's reach and to share stories of how Chicago-area residents and organizations are taking action on their climate commitments.
